Kicking Off the New School Year

School has officially started. How do I know? Progress reports are heading home to parents. Well, at least that is our intentions.
AMAT is rocking and rolling as well. We have had several football games and almost all the classes are through with their first project of the year. Advance Broadcast Journalism has started their second project, music videos, and Video Production has their first project due, Scavenger Hunt, on Friday.

I am very excited about the new year. We have alot of fun activities and projects in the pipeline. Stay tuned for more surprises. I wil be actively keeping this blog up to date. Check back reguarly for new posts.

** Many people ask what my favorite movie is. I always have a hard time with this. It is very difficult to pick just one. It is always a toss up between Goodfellas or Pulp Fiction. I also really like Raiders of the Lost Ark and Star Wars.

It Could Happen to You

A 18 year old student created this video commercial and posted it on YouTube. A couple weeks later he was contacted by Apple and they will air this commercial nationally on television. All i can say is keep cranking out those videos.

Apple Film Festival

Calling all high school and college filmmakers.

On Saturday, October 13 at 9:00 a.m. (Eastern time), we’ll post a top-secret list of elements — special props, dialogue, settings — you get the idea. Choose any three to include in your movie. Then all you and your team have to do is write, cast, shoot, edit, score, and upload your 3-minute masterpiece within 24 hours. No problem, right?

Once the films are in, your friends, family, and adoring fans will be able to watch them online and rate their favorites. The 25 entries with the highest rating on November 9 at 12:00 a.m. EST will be screened by industry professionals, including Barry Sonnenfeld, James Mangold, and Nora Ephron.

If your film is the biggest hit with either the public or the pros, each member of your team will receive a MacBook Pro, Final Cut Studio 2, Logic Studio, and Shake so you can get started on that first sequel. How’s that for a Hollywood ending?

My Monday Night: No I'm Not a Geek

Technically I think I am more of a nerd, or at least obsessed with TV. I never get those directors who say they do not watch movies or television. I especially hate when someone in the industry says they do not own a TV. Ok, ok, I am blabbing. In case you wanted to know, this is what Mr. Wheeler is watching tonight. Man do I love the start of the new television season.

1. Chuck (7:00 - 8:00)- Alias/James Bond meets computer geek. This NBC show is supposed to be really funny. Josh Schwartz, the creator of The O.C., created and produces this show. If Chuck is anything like Seth Cohen, I will be hooked. Don't worry. I have TIVO set to record How I Met Your Mother.

2. Heroes
(8:00 - 9:00)- This show is one of my top shows I am most looking forward to returning. The others being It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Wire and The Office. Heroes is going to expand its universe this year and will feature Kristen Bell, Veronica Mars, in at least 13 episodes. That is so cool! I am glad K-Ville is awful. My TIVO would be full. I have not watched this much NBC since Seinfeld was on the air.

3. CSI: Miami (9:00 - 10:00)- I have not watched this show since Season One. The previews look really good, so I thought I would get back on board. I even forgot why I stopped watching this. Spoiler: Tim "Speed" Speedle is returning to the show. He was killed off in Saeson 3 or 4, so it will be interesting how they bring him back.

Tomorrow night it is House, Reaper (TIVO), Cane and Boston Legal (TIVO)...stay tuned.
